Travel to Thailand

Travel to Thailand

Tomorrow April 1st 2022 no pre-departure PCR test for travellers entering Thailand is required.

Starting on April 1st 2022, vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers arriving in Thailand will no longer have to take a PCR test before they leave their own country, however, visitors will still need to take a PCR test once they land.

Requirements for entry were published yesterday in the Royal Gazette making it official. Unvaccinated travellers, or those who do not meet Thailand's vaccine requirements, must isolate at an approved hotel or resort for 5 days under the ASQ scheme and then undergo a Covid test before they are released.

Vaccinated travellers who enter under the Test and Go scheme must book one night in an approved hotel on their 1st night, the hotel packages give you a test on arrival and upon a negative result can leave the hotel and travel anywhere in Thailand. You will then need to take a rapid antigen test on day 5 and report the results.

So Thailand is starting to open up but sadly still with some hurdles to jump, rumours are that from June the final restrictions will be lifted but this is just a rumour for now.

Today Thailand reported 27000 new Covid 19 cases. Providing these numbers start to drop then the doors might finally open to tourism without restrictions.

Will you or are you waiting for all of the restrictions to go before booking that trip? I and my wife have decided to hold off till April 2023 before we return to Thailand giving the country time to reboot and hopefully settle into the new normal, whatever that is.

A lot of ex-pats and regular visitors have seen the changes throughout the pandemic and are speculating about what the new Thailand will look like. Many companies within the tourism industry closed including bars and hotels. However recently new money seems to be entering Thailand including huge hotel groups buying land and hotels up for sale. Signs are encouraging for the future but only time will tell how it all turns out.

Fingers crossed.

Life in the UK compared to Thailand

Life in the UK compared to Thailand The biggest differences have to do with the seasons, climate and vibe.  When you live in Thailand it takes about two years to get used to the heat and humidity, Our house is South of Bangkok and averages 31 degrees over the year. In summer it rises to 45 degrees and in the rainy season, it drops to about 28 degrees. Living in that heat wears you down and changes the way you spend your days, going out early in the morning and dodging into air-con rooms mid-afternoon.  Here in the UK, it's totally different as the temperatures are completely different and range from -5 degrees in the Winter to 30 degrees in the Summer.  This leads me to the seasons and if I am honest whilst living in Thailand, I really missed the four seasons in the UK. Thailand really only has two, the Summer and rainy seasons. This is something you really need to consider if you are thinking about moving to Thailand. One thing that is really a huge difference and I felt...

Thailand Hotels This page will show you information about the hotels and whether I recommend them. You can click each picture which will then take you to the Agoda page for more information and give you current prices and availability. It might take me quite a while to fill this page as every hotel brings back a memory and that is a story in itself. Hyatt Regency Hotel Hua Hin My favourite hotel in Hua Hin. Buy or Rent a Condo in Thailand?

Buy or Rent a Condo in Thailand? A question or type of question I get a lot by email on a regular basis, do I buy or rent and if I buy, what do I buy. Then can I own a property in Thailand? Rather than go into a long discussion just have a look at these videos that I made for our YouTube channel.  This video has had over 70,000 views and hundreds of comments.  Another great video but to my surprise only got 22,000 views. A must-watch if you are serious about buying or building in Thailand. The subject of buying or building in Thailand must be the biggest topic for a foreigner thinking of retiring to Thailand at first and then of course the topic soon turns to Visas but that is another post.
