The Future of our YouTube Channel

The Future of our YouTube Channel

We started our channel on January 31st 2017 whilst living in the United Kingdom with hopes of getting 1000 subscribers and no knowledge of what is involved with creating a YouTube channel. Click here to go to our YouTube channel.

Little did we know about the incredible journey we were about to go on, 5 years later we have over 60,000 subscribers and are now back in the United Kingdom working again.

We created over 1000 videos all about moving to Thailand from the UK, finishing our house including the building work, travelling around Thailand and then designing and building a Resort before getting shut down by Covid 19. At that point giving up our dream and travelled back to the UK to find work and use this time throughout Covid to build up our savings.

If you are thinking about a holiday, retiring, or moving to Thailand then we highly recommend you browse the videos on our channel and you will definitely save yourself some money and heartaches.

We have also written two books which are available here on this website via Amazon.

The surprising thing about our YouTube channel is that a year ago we headed back to the UK from Thailand to put our heads down and work through Covid 19 and have not created any new content yet between 1000 and 2000 views a day continue on the channel. This I did not expect, however, it shows that a lot of people are still thinking about moving to Thailand in the near future or a lot of new visitors to Thailand are looking for information.

This analytics shows that people are excited about Thailand starting to re-open. Yes, we still have Covid amongst us but we will learn to live with it going forward just like the common flu.

The other current problem is what is happening in Ukraine and Russia which has caused a major exodus of Russian tourists and ex-pats from Thailand.

We decided early on in 2021 that we do not return to Thailand until April 2023 and that was to allow everything to get back to as normal as possible. This is still our goal and I think is a sensible estimation of when full tourism will resume throughout the world.

Shortly we will start to produce videos again from here in the UK and I hope to start streaming again.

What's the future of our YouTube Channel

I have spent a lot of time over the last year analysing our channel and our lives currently here in the UK. I have also looked at all of the other Thailand Bloggers. What they are covering and what is popular, what is missing from the current bloggers and what type of person watches our channel plus where are they from.

Moving the clock forward and trying to imagine what things will be like when we arrive back in Thailand. It is going to be busy getting the resort up and running again plus finding more staff.

So the channel, what is the best route to take? People love the stories and information on retiring to Thailand, those are the two most-watched videos so far on the channel. My thoughts at the moment are to start the stories up again and report the changes as they happen to Thailand opening up again, but when we land, then I am considering our options carefully.

We have to find a balance with the resort, the channel and our lives. The resort is a 24-hour-a-day business but with the right staff and procedures in place, it can run smoothly with less and less interaction from us. The channel, well anybody running a YouTube channel knows it takes a lot of time to film, edit and produce a video. Even more, time if you want to lift your production quality on the videos. Our lives well, we want more time to enjoy our lives and I want to slow down a bit and start enjoying life. There definitely have to be some changes as we go forward but what they are will take time to decide. Watch this space.

Life back in the Uk compared to Thailand We have now been back in the Uk for 20 months and it got me thinking what has been the difference between the two countries now that we seem to be recovering from the Covid era. The biggest differences have to do with the seasons, climate and vibe.  When you live in Thailand it takes about two years to get used to the heat and humidity, Our house is South of Bangkok and averages 31 degrees over the year. In summer it rises to 45 degrees and in the rainy season, it drops to about 28 degrees. Living in that heat wears you down and changes the way you spend your days, going out early in the morning and dodging into air-con rooms mid-afternoon.  Here in the Uk, it's totally different as the temperatures are completely different and range from -5 degrees in the Winter to 30 degrees in the Summer.  This leads me to the seasons and if I am honest whilst living in Thailand, I really missed the four seasons in the Uk. Thailand really only has two, th

Understanding the future for our resort in Thailand

Understanding the future of our resort in Thailand What does the future hold for tourism around the globe after COVID? Nobody knows really if there will be another deadly strain around the corner? So many questions and no concrete answers. How do you plan your business strategy for the future in such uncertain times? In December 2020 we opened the doors to our resort in Thailand and after 3 months we had to shut it down in first instance to foreign tourists and then 2 months later completely shut it to all guests due to COVID restrictions. We kept the staff on for a further 3 months hoping things would change but alas they didn't. Tourism is set to start returning to Thailand in mid-2022 but at what point will it get back to a normal level, and what is the new normal going to look like. So many businesses went bust and the economy around tourism almost collapsed. Staff moved away from the tourist areas and went home, resorts and hotels changed hands, Bars and nightlife areas wer

Do you Buy or Rent in Thailand, possibly buy a Condo?

Do you Buy or Rent in Thailand, possibly buy a Condo? A question or type of question I get a lot by email on a regular basis, do I buy or rent and if I buy, what do I buy. Then can I own a property in Thailand? Rather than go into a long discussion just have a look at these videos that I made for our YouTube channel.  This video has had over 70,000 views and hundreds of comments.  Another great video but to my surprise only got 22,000 views. A must-watch if you are serious about buying or building in Thailand. The subject of buying or building in Thailand must be the biggest topic for a foreigner thinking of retiring to Thailand at first and then of course the topic soon turns to Visas but that is another post.
