Welcome  to The new temporary Website / Blog


Previously we had a dedicated website for our Youtube channel landofsmilesthailand, this we shut down about a year ago and took a break from the channel and most social media platforms whilst we regrouped and settled down back in the Uk. You can follow our journey from way back in 2017 up until recently on our channel Land of Smiles Thailand 




For those who are new to our channel and story, we moved from the Uk in March 2017 to Thailand, finished building our house and then built a resort. We opened, and two months later got shut down due to Covid 19. At this point after spending more money on the builds than we budgeted for, we decided to come back to the Uk and earn some extra money to top up our savings before returning to Thailand. It is currently March 2021 and we estimate returning to Thailand in 2023.

When we return to Thailand and get ready to re-open the resort we will also open a brand new website to allow people to book directly with us instead of using Agoda and Booking.com which we found to be a headache and caused so many problems.





We have chosen to move away from one dedicated website for the youtube channel and a separate site for the resort. We will create one new website to cover everything including quite a few of the services and products we use that can easily be used by anybody whether world travellers or people retiring to any country.

    Hi Robert the membership stays the same on Youtube and you will get vouchers for continuing support as promised once we reopen next year. The new website wont be completed till next year. Simon

Life back in the Uk compared to Thailand We have now been back in the Uk for 20 months and it got me thinking what has been the difference between the two countries now that we seem to be recovering from the Covid era. The biggest differences have to do with the seasons, climate and vibe.  When you live in Thailand it takes about two years to get used to the heat and humidity, Our house is South of Bangkok and averages 31 degrees over the year.   Understanding the future of our resort in Thailand What does the future hold for tourism around the globe after COVID? Nobody knows really if there will be another deadly strain around the corner? So many questions and no concrete answers. How do you plan your business strategy for the future in such uncertain times? In December 2020 we opened the doors to our resort in Thailand and after 3 months we had to shut it down in first instance to foreign tourists and then 2 months later completely shut it to all guests due to COVID restrictions. We kept the staff on for a further 3 months hoping things would change but alas they didn't.  Do you Buy or Rent in Thailand, possibly buy a Condo? A question or type of question I get a lot by email on a regular basis, do I buy or rent and if I buy, what do I buy. Then can I own a property in Thailand?
